RP Setting

This is a very brief overview of the RP world of Waterdeep, in which the Crimson Guardians reside. Please refer to the WD website to learn about the world and campaign in more depth.

The bulk of the MUD is set in the Great Realms, a continent on the world of Toril. The Realms are divided into empires (Tripower, Vector, Sephirothian, Heifong), and in these empires are cities led by factions. Overhead, the Ragnarok - known to many as simply the Rok - sits in the sky, a giant meteor that is said will bring destruction and chaos, and to some will bring rebirth as well. The Tripower Empire created a Makou cannon to destroy the Rok, nicknamed Stalin's Organ, but it failed and the Rok remains. For a time, the Rok seemed aggressive toward the lands below, releasing hoardes of demons and the plague of Hemelia, but in recent years it has seemed to go dormant.

Makou and MagiTek energies power the Realms, though MagiTek is shunned by most areas. Magic has a very visible, tangible presence as well. The combination of the two has led to some magnificent technological creations, such as the powerful airships that navigate the skies. These creations have made available access to distant lands, such as the Heifong empire and the continent of Faerun. They have also opened up new areas of commerce, as well as new territory for the less savory to conduct their "business." Pirates roam the skies now as well as the seas, though the Tripower's air division - the TPAA - attempts to maintain some control and sanity for travelers.

Though there are some technological advancements, it is still a medieval setting. Swords and bows are common in fighting, while small firearms are not available. While airships allow people to roam the skies, ground travel is limited to horses, carriages, etc, or magical transportation spells. Materials such as nylon and rubber do not exist, nor do telephones and other modern technologies.
